What is a Fossil?
I think it is healthy to get a proper understanding of what a fossil actually is. It is not as simple as it might at first appear, and can be misleading in terms of assumed great ages. This essay is to help promote better understanding on the true nature of fossils, what they are, and how they come into being. I think the best way to organize this section is from a standpoint of facts. That is to say, these are the known truths agreed upon by all scientists, whether creationists or evolutionists.

1 : a remnant, impression, or trace of an organism of past geologic ages that has been preserved in the earth's crust
